What are permissions

Permissions are the actions assigned to a role that a user can perform in N-able N-central. Every function in N-able N-central is governed by permissions. A role is a collection of permissions.

For example, an Administrator is a role that configures the system by having permissions to use and manage systems, or a technician is a role that has permissions to view status and reports to troubleshoots devices.

N-able N-central has three types of permissions that you can add or removed from a role.

Permission	Description
Read Only	Enables users to view selected components of N-able N-central.
Manage	Enables users to view and make changes to the configuration of N-able N-central.
None	Hides the component from the user so they cannot see or use the functionality.

Roles are permissive not restrictive. That is, they turn features on to use, not off to hide. When creating a role, you are defining what features to turn on for that role.

If two roles are enabled for a user, and one role turns a feature on and the other role does not turn on the same feature, the permissions that turns on the feature takes precedence over the one that states not to do anything.
